Brennand and Whitendale

The new habitat improvement works on the Brennand and Whitendale will be officially opened on the 25th April. The two major intakes have been rebuilt at a cost of £2.1 m and all but three of the minor intakes closed.

Under a new agreement, UU and the EA will ensure that water is only taken from the rivers when it is plentiful thereby protecting the young trout and salmonids in this major spawning area. This most significant improvement to the Hodder catchment will go a long way to mitigate the impact of abstraction

Our thanks must go to the Focus Group, UU and the EA.
